Teacher Training Centre
History of TTC
The history of the Teacher Training Centre goes back to the foundation of the Department of Pedagogy and Pscychology under the leadership of Dr. Sándor OROSZ.
The teacher training programme of the University of Pannonia stood out from among others by placing a strong emphasis on building an awareness of long-term in-service commitment for trainees by focusing on self-awareness, problem-solving in pedagogical situations and case studies besides traditional theoretical approaches to enhance pedagogical social competences and skills.
This unique approach lived on when Dr. János GALICZA became the head of the department and, ultimately, it gained a national recognition when in 1997 this workshop method was made an official base of teacher training in Hungary.
The practice orientation was kept up after 2001 under Dr. Attila H. HORVÁTH as well supplemented with a focus on teacher competences in line with the Bologna process of transforming the European teacher training landscape.
In a joint effort with the Pápa-based Pedagogical Research Institute, new degree study programmes were launched, leading to the merging of the Department of Pedagogy and Pscychology with the Centre for Value-Based Pedagogy (ÉKP) as the Institute of Education, the predecessor of the Teacher Training Centre.
Since 2007 the TTC has launched and operated several accredited degree study programmes in teacher training and education, as well as postgraduate professional development study programmes.
