Teacher Training Study Programmes
In Hungary special requirements apply to those wishing to apply for a degree in education.
All teacher training programmes at the University of Pannonia are master level study programmes that require 300-, 330- or 360-credit coursework depending on the subject areas and grade level teacher trainees want to teach in their careers.

Teacher trainees can enter the MEd degree programmes
1 after a high school leaving exam (initial teacher training): in this case, students must choose a double major study programme (English and Hungarian or English and Drama or Hungarian and Drama, for instance);
2. with a bachelor's degree (initial teacher training): in this case, students carry on with their first major (the major of their bachelor study programme) and start their studies in a second major (or continue with the minor of their undergraduate studies) - max. 230 - 260 credits
3. with a master's degree (initial teacher training): in this case, students can qualify as a teacher in one subject area (that of their master's) - 60 credits
4. with an education degree (MEd) (continuing teacher development degree study programme): in this case, students can either upgrade their MEd degree to teach in higher grades of school or they can earn an MEd in a subject area other than they are originally qualified to teach - 60-150 credits
The Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education defines two types of teacher education: primary school teacher training for a 4+1 year period with two majors, as well as a secondary school teacher training, with a duration of 5 + 1 years.
In both cases, the last year is reserved for a so-called “individual teaching practice” year (for 1&2).
